Each hood bird or complete kit contains:
a. Hood bird measures 45½ in. wide x 44½ in. height rolled around a core tube and secured by full wrap around sheet. (See Did You Know below)
b. 1977-78 Trans Am featured the Trans Am names with die cut letters, and Pontiac spoiler name.
c. T/A 6.6 or 6.6 Liter Shaker decals Your choice
Included with your decal kit:
a. Vinyl application squeegee.
b. GM original hood bird placement sheet
c. How to hood bird application sheets.
d. Placement spec sheet for Trans Am names and shaker callout.
e. 3M vinyl application sheet.
This is a Premium kit. So what is in our price?
a. Our kits are silk screened on 2 mil cast High Performance Vinyl with a full UV clearcoat.
b. To insure registration accuracy in Trans Am names they are printed separately and die cut separately from the hood bird.
c. All colors are created from original GM decals to insure accuracy.

Engine shaker decals: We tailor our kits to your specific year. We offer your choice of shaker engine I.D. based on your model year. With the idea is to keep your restoration year correct.
Our hood birds are stored flat until time of sale and rolled around a 4 inch core tube like the factory kit it to insure a freshly rolled kit.
The part numbers used for ordering are the original GM part numbers. We believe in a complete and authentic kit by doing so.
In 1977 thru 1978 Pontiac the one piece hood bird was available in 3 color groups depending on the body color.
2 color blue hood bird with black body was used in 1978 model year featuring 3 color blue with gold accent Trans Am names and shaker decal.
Gray Red hood bird with black body 1977-78
Gold outline/yellowish color accent with black body was used 1976 thru 1978. NOTE: Black cars during the 1976-78 years used black vinyl with the colors screen printed on the material to avoid the seeing the adhesive of the decals against the black paint color.
Trans Am front nose decal was introduced in 1976 and carried into 1977. NOTE: In 1978 the Trans Am name was not use.
Pontiac spoiler name was introduced in 1976 and continued through 1978.

We Were Second… Did you know we even use the original GM part numbers for the hood birds. The same applies to the Trans Am names & shaker decals.
What you don’t get
A Thick vinyl hood bird that looks like it was folded or rolled for so long that when applied there are horizontal lines from were the vinyl separated from the backing material.
Not shown above are the 4 color names used in 1978 NOTE: Our own experience since 1994 when we first offered the hood bird kits is that in 1978 early models may use the 1977 3 color Trans Am names & shaker decals.
| Note: Depending on the year of your Trans Am, GM offered different engine designations or formats. Our kits offer the correct one at no additional cost to you.Did you know: The original decal 1976-78 color with a mustard color as an accent inside the feather openings and black body. Shown in the photo are two original GM decals illustrating the original color combination. Underneath them is what is GM offered as a replacement decal the accent is un clear at this time. but the photo of the Buccaneer red Trans Am illustrates the early design and offers a much nicer contrast to body color. |
